New location for September. Forest Fridays are meeting at Classic Playground, not the Learning Garden.Help restore the woodland edge at Van Cortlandt Park. Volunteers remove the invasive shrubs and vines crowding out young native trees - multiflora rose, bush honeysuckle, porcelain berry, jetbead and ivy - and tend a small native planting put in this June. Hand tools only. Tools, gloves and guidance provided; no experience needed.Dates include Fridays weekly from September 4th - September 25th. Dates are 9/4, 9/11, 9/18, and 9/25.Meet at the public restroom building inside Classic Playground, at Van Cortlandt Park South and Gouverneur Avenue. The worksite is right at the playground, so latecomers can find us.Wear long sleeves, long trousers and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Bring water.
